In her paintings, Helgy White creates lush canvases, layering on the colors and textures to build an incredibly rich composition. The final effect is magnificent. Helgy has been described by art critics as an outstanding colorist, competent, versatile and a fine draftsman with "painterly" command of her brush strokes. She has studied with some of the nation's leading plein air masters. In her work, Helgy emphasizes the painting of portraits and still life done directly from the model, and the painting of landscapes in plein air - her greatest joy. Helgy states, "I continue that time-honored practice today, ever in search of the beauty surrounding all of us. Sharing that beauty is my objective." Helgy has won numerous awards for her art and is a signature member of the American Impressionist Society and Alla Prima International.
